Candlemas Day is a holiday when winter meeting the summer.  

Second year Department of Education and the local diocese organized the ball to celebrate Candlemas Day.

Girls are wearing ball beautiful dresses, boys are wearing suits. And also they should can dance polonaise, minuet, waltz, mazurka. Experienced teachers taught them how to do it. Candlemas Day ball is already become a tradition. Last year it was held for the first time, and today twice more students would like to participate in it. 

Guri Bishop Arsenyev and Dalnegorsk city: "Today is the holiday of Simeon and St. Anna meeting God. It is a great holiday.”

Egor Lisienko, a participant of Candlemas Day ball: "I have a lot of emotions today. I was shocked. So many people, everybody is dressed up in a special way. First time I see girls in such grand dresses”.

Every school has its own delegation participating in the Candlemas Day ball. They were practicing for several months. From XX-th Century Russia has tradition to organize ball on the Candlemas Day. This holiday in Arsenyev city is also the Orthodox Youth Day. 

Irina Berdnikova, Director of Sunday school: "Our children are renewing Russia cultural traditions. It is a very good tradition, which has a lot of terms of patriotic education. " 

In Candlemas Day ball children were playing forfeits, other fun secular games, practiced singing and drawing. Also everybody can buy things which made by hands of disabled children.

Charitable is the main goal of this holiday. Last year after the Arsenyev Candlemas ball was mounted 10 thousand rubles. All this money was the financial support to the disabled children.
